Info: A refined gesture drawing of a model. I say refined in the sense that usually gesture drawings are really quick (usually being done in no more than a few seconds), and here I spent some extra time refining the contour lines and detail marks.

Info: This was a fifteen minute figure study I did a while back. I like this sketch because the pose was very challenging and taught me a lot in terms of foreshortening and effective shading of the human form.

Info: A rather animated and "interesting" pose which I had a blast jotting down and working with. Some of the proportions are a tad off, but I attribute that to my constant laughing as I drew this :)

Info: This was a twenty minute figure study I did. My original gesture drawing was very helpful in effectively capturing the pose and mood of the model. From there I went to fill in some detail in terms of shadows and highlights. Since I decided to use a selection of lighter pencils the shading became a much longer process for me, and I missed out on adding more to the picture. Definitely a learning experience.

Info: This was a gesture/time study. The actual process goes a little like this: the model starts off in one pose and then proceeds to move very slowly over time to a set position. The artist has to then effectively decide and select key positions to sketch out as the model moves. At the end of the exercise one should have something akin to my piece above. A wonderful exercise for sure as it helps train the artist's eyes, speed, and technique.
