Life Drawing
Sketches

A collection of various 2D studies in a variety
of styles from my life drawing classes.
Completed on: 7/15/2004
Medium: Pencil sketch on newsprint
Info: This is an unfinished portrait from my advanced life drawing class. I like the proportions and the line quality I was able to achieve in this piece. It was a rather quick drawing session so I wasn't able to get all the details in the back of the hair done, but even though it's unfinished I still like it. One of the few studies that I want to finish someday.
Completed on: 7/29/2004
Medium: Pencil sketch on bristol
Info: Just a simple profile sketch. Here I was able to concentrate on some of the details of the face more since I sketched out the model's head quite quickly.

Medium: Pencil sketch on bristol
Info: Another quick portrait study. This I believe was a five minute sketch which actually equals about four minutes of true drawing. The first minute or so is basically just setting up the drawing (you can see my circular guidelines around the model's head) and blocking in the basic shapes one sees.

Medium: Pencil sketch on bristol
Info: This was a very quick fabric study where the goal was to observe the way the individual's outfit lay on their person. The many folds, dips, and creases in their clothing were what I tried to recreate in this sketch.
Completed on: 7/22/2004
Medium: Markers on bristol
Info: A quick marker rendering of the sitting model. Markers are a medium that I hope to be able to further explore in the future of my artistic career since being able to effectively render with markers is an artform all unto itself.
Completed on: 7/15/2004
Medium: Pencil sketch on bristol
Info: I believe this was a five or ten minute study of the model. I concentrated on my line work here as it often is a bit sketchy and hard. It's tough to break away from that at times since that's my natural drawing style.
