Years ago as a young kid I felt inspired to develop a story of a character I made up and the world he would inhabit. I had a lot of ideas gathered from my personal life, from dreams, and from my own wild imagination. What at first started as a comic book then turned into a graphic novel and is now a straight novel. I've been working on this story on and off throughout the years, and finally I'm getting close to finishing the first tome in the saga. Here's a sample of the book's first chapter entitled Serenade of Blood. This isn't the final version of the story, but I hope I don't have too much proofreading left. Enjoy!
Since I didn't include the prologue here's a brief synopsis of the main story arc: In a world not too unlike our own humanity struggles to avoid their destined fate. Having forsaken paradise once and thus choosing to live in an illusory material existence separate from God, most refuse to see the truth and the error of their ways. There are some who still believe and choose not to give up hope, however it might be already too late for them as well. The ruins of civilizations from ages past lie buried in the slowly freezing world. Once monumental cities lie shattered and broken across the gelid plains, the wonders of technology and advancement hopelessly defeated by the force of time and nature. "The world will end in ice and then be consumed by the fire of rebirth." So the legends say, but if the world is to come to an end then what of God's forgiveness? Humanity's last hope lies with a man proclaimed to come in the earth's darkest days, in its final and coldest hour. It will be his duty to carry the burden of man's sin upon his shoulders. Is paradise attainable even for the most wretched? It will be his choice to make and his alone, but the sacrifice he will have to make to ensure humanity's last chance at redemption is something he himself doesn't yet understand. A man, a warrior, and most importantly, a champion of light undertakes a journey to understand his duty. Along the way he will encounter friends, enemies, heroes, villains, and more on his quest for the truth. His final redemption is near...
