Self Portrait 2
![]()

Completed on: 8/8/2004
Medium: Pencil sketch on bristol paper
Info: One of two self portraits I did for my advanced life drawing class a little while ago. This self portrait didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to. I was so busy concentrating on the little details of the drawing that I lost sight of the overall composition. When the mistake was noticed it was too late to try and rectify it. What I'm talking about is the width of the head versus the width of the neck itself. It might not be a big mistake to some, but it was to me. I did learn an important lesson however. Never get too wrapped up in the details. Don't be so focused on single aspect of a piece that you lose track of the big picture. I know I'll try to take those words to heart.
