Info: An early design for one of my major villains. There are many things I attempted with this piece that were firsts for me. The composition of the piece (with the head being cut off in the shot) was something I think I nailed right away. For the design of the helmet I scoured a few history books in order to get just the right design. You can see the fully colored version by clicking here, but in my mind the original sketch more than holds its own against the finished design. One reason might be that at the time I was still trying to find my preferred painting style in Photoshop, and I didn't have a drawing tablet yet. Details are sometimes painstakingly hard to do with just a mouse.
